Label → gateway on your PC → factory reset: try in that order
We do not publish per-brand default lists: they go stale and get misused
Change the address before mounting — saves a second trip up the ladder
01 Three ways to find it, in order
-
1 ① Check the label / quick-start card
Default IP, account and SSID are usually printed on the rear label or quick-start card. Photograph it during install.
-
2 ② Read the gateway on your PC
Join the same segment and check the default gateway in ipconfig / ifconfig — in most cases that is the device management address.
-
3 ③ Factory reset and retry
If a previous owner changed it, hold Reset for 5–10 seconds to restore defaults. This erases the current configuration.
02 Why we do not publish a per-brand default-value list
Two reasons. First, vendor defaults change with firmware and batch — a stale table is worse than none. Second, such pages get misused to bypass administrator passwords. So defaults travel with the hardware: on request we provide the values matching your model and batch, annotated on the quotation.
03 Why so many devices sit on 192.168.x.x
192.168.0.0/16, 10.0.0.0/8 and 172.16.0.0/12 are RFC 1918 private ranges that never appear on the public internet, so vendors pick from within them. Sharing a prefix does not mean similar hardware. In mixed-brand rollouts, plan addressing up front or devices on different subnets will not see each other.
04 Address planning for mixed-brand rollouts
- Split management and service: APs/AC on a management VLAN, client traffic on its own VLAN.
- Change the default address before mounting — doing it after the unit is in the ceiling doubles labour.
- Label every unit with model, MAC and management address so faults do not need a ladder.
- Document the final addressing in the handover pack and change every default password.
Questions
Q1 What does a factory reset erase?
SSID, passwords, IP plan, VLANs and any custom configuration revert to defaults; an upgraded firmware version usually stays.
Q2 What if I cannot reach the device at all?
First connect directly on the same subnet to rule out an address clash, then scan for the device. If it is still unreachable, factory reset. Send us the model and batch and we will confirm the management address with the factory.
