Factory credentials ship with the hardware; every project must change them
A lost password means a hardware reset, which erases the configuration
Disable WAN-side management, Telnet and UPnP
01 Standard recovery flow
-
1 ① Check the bundled documentation
Factory credentials are on the quick-start card or the unit label — the only reliable source.
-
2 ② Hardware reset
Hold Reset for 5–10 seconds (some models require power on). The unit returns to factory configuration; log in with the bundled credentials.
-
3 ③ Change and record
Immediately set the project password and record it in the handover pack for the client to hold.
-
4 ④ Final security steps
Disable WAN-side management, change default ports, turn off unused services such as Telnet, and restrict management to the management VLAN.
02 What we will not do
- We do not compile a per-brand default-password list — such lists get used to break into networks we do not own.
- We do not accept credentials from users. No password should travel through chat or a web form.
- We do not provide ways to bypass an administrator password — only the official reset procedure.
03 Handover security checklist
| Item | Requirement |
|---|---|
| Default password | Change all of them; never share one password across sites |
| WAN-side management | Disable; manage over the LAN or VPN only |
| Unused services | Turn off Telnet, UPnP and remote debugging |
| Firmware | Upgrade to a stable release and record the version |
| Handover pack | Model, MAC, management address and who holds the credentials |
Questions
Q1 The client lost the password — now what?
Factory reset it. If the device carries live traffic, schedule a night window and back up the configuration first.
Q2 Can you reset it for me remotely?
No. Reset must be done physically on site; we provide the process and model-specific steps.
